The Vox Corda String Orchestra is the first step in what we
hope will grow to be a comprehensive string music performance and education
project that endeavors to bring together string music and musicians from all
disciplines and cultures, to learn from each other, to find ways to perform
in both traditional and non-traditional groups and settings, and to use this
knowledge to educate students and the community at large. By bringing
professional-level string orchestra musicians and teachers together to learn
from and perform with their peers in folk-based string music genres, we
intend to create new avenues for string music education, thereby enabling
performers and audience to discover the coincidences and complements between
string music traditions, create new entrees into cultures
